<p>Gelişim Orthopedics is a specialized center in Izmir that has been providing services in the production and application of custom-made orthopedic prostheses and orthotics since 1998. It aims to improve the quality of life and support freedom of movement after amputation by offering individualized solutions.</p><p>The center's founder, İrfan Erden, graduated from Hacettepe University's Department of Orthopedic Prosthetics and Orthotics in 1988, becoming one of Turkey's first certified prosthetic and orthotic technicians. Following his graduation, he worked for 10 years at the Ege University Prosthetics-Orthotics Workshop, gaining experience working with numerous amputees with diverse needs.</p><p>Based on this professional experience, İrfan Erden founded Gelişim Orthopedics in 1998. He closely follows innovations in the sector by participating in national and international trainings, fairs, symposiums, and professional organizations, and continues to pioneer the application of modern prosthetic technologies in Turkey.</p>

A prosthetic leg is an artificial limb system used to replace a limb lost below or above the knee due to illness, accident, diabetes, tumors, or trauma. It is custom-made by expert prosthetic technicians using carbon, titanium, aluminum, silicon, and advanced electronic components. The goal is to enable the individual to regain their ability to walk and comfortably perform daily life activities. Leg prostheses are divided into two categories according to the level of amputation: Below-knee prosthetic leg: The individual uses their own knee joint; there is no additional mechanism. Above-knee prosthetic leg: Includes a mechanically or microprocessor-controlled knee joint that supports walking. Depending on the materials and technology used, prosthetic legs offer different levels of comfort, durability, and mobility.

Arm prostheses are custom-made artificial limbs designed to help individuals who have lost a limb to reintegrate into daily life and improve their mobility. The correct prosthesis selection and subsequent rehabilitation process ensure maximum benefit from the prosthesis. The most suitable prosthesis is determined by evaluating the patient's needs, lifestyle, and expectations, and a personalized usage and rehabilitation plan is prepared by our technicians. Types of Arm Prostheses: Shoulder disarticulation: Advanced prosthetic solutions for shoulder-level amputations; Above-elbow prosthesis: Bionic, cosmetic, or computer-controlled system options; Below-elbow prosthesis: Prostheses that support daily movements and fine motor skills; Wrist disarticulation: Lightweight and aesthetically designed solutions that closely resemble natural movement. Pediatric prostheses are completely customized, depending on whether the limb loss is congenital or due to trauma. During the treatment process, the child's age, developmental stage, and physical needs must be regularly monitored. Starting prosthetic use as early as possible is crucial for children's mobility development and adaptation to daily life. Because the growth process is rapid, pediatric prostheses need to be replaced more frequently than adult prostheses and are planned to suit their development, just like changing clothes or shoes. A correctly designed socket structure and joint fit form the basis of comfortable and safe use in pediatric prostheses.

Sports prostheses are performance-oriented prostheses specifically designed to allow individuals who have undergone amputation to participate in sports at a professional or amateur level. They offer active use in many disciplines such as athletics, running, swimming, skiing, cycling, and indoor sports. While individuals with prior sports experience may have an advantage in the adaptation process, those without a sports background can also confidently begin participating in sports thanks to amputee sports prostheses. Runner (Running Prosthesis): The Runner is a running spring prosthesis developed for both amateur and professional athletes. It provides use at different levels, from jogging to performance sprints. Thanks to its adjustable structure, it adapts to the athlete's needs, offering powerful propulsion and balanced movement. Sprinter (Carbon Running Prosthesis): The Sprinter model provides high propulsion power and low resistance thanks to its lightweight structure and carbon spring technology. With its structure resistant to the high loads experienced during running, it is ideal for athletes aiming for professional performance.
